April 27, 2023: The Draft General Plan was presented to the Planning Commission during their regular meeting at City Hall. A public hearing was held, and the Planning Commission readily gave their recommendation that the plan move forward for adoption.
March 1, 2023: A Draft General Plan Open House was held at City Hall from 6-8pm. Attendees were able to review the contents of the plan, ask questions, and submit comments.
November 2, 2022: A Draft General Plan has been completed and submitted to the City for internal review. After the internal review, a revised draft will be presented to the public at an open house in the new year.
August 1, 2022: The planning team is now underway in developing the Draft General Plan. This will take some time to develop, so stay tuned. Once the draft is complete it will be presented at a public open house for comment before going on for adoption.
July 19, 2022: The planning team presented the preferred planning concepts to the combined City Council and Planning Commission. The Downtown revitalization concept was generally agreed upon. Mixed use on North County Blvd would only be acceptable if all the ground floor were commercial. The proposed neighborhood center in the north end of the City will be removed from the plan. The preferred concepts will now be refined in detail as a part of developing the draft plan.
July 13, 2022: The Advisory Committee met with the planning team to discuss the feedback received from the Public Workshop. The committee generally felt like Downtown revitalization and some mixed use at the future transit station on North County Blvd were good ideas to incorporate into the plan. The preferred concepts will next be presented to the City Council.
June 11, 2022: A Public Workshop was held in conjunction with the Strawberry Days Fireman’s Breakfast to present initial concepts for land use and transportation to the public. We had more than 100 people in attendance and received 36 responses to a short questionnaire. This feedback will be used to help narrow in on preferred concepts for the General Plan.
May 19, 2022: Presented the findings from the Public Open House and online public comments to the Advisory Committee and City Officials. The notes have been digitized and can be found under the Advisory Committee tab. We are preparing proposals for the next phase of public engagement. The date for the next public workshop meeting will be posted in the Public Engagement tab as soon as they are finalized.
